Patti Clare, AICP
Senior Planner
Patti joined Neel-Schaffer in 2015 and has more than 30 years of experience.
Patti is a Senior Planner who provides sustainable land use, economic development, and transportation planning services for clients companywide. Patti also provides grant-writing services for a wide variety of Neel-Schaffer clients.
Since joining Neel-Schaffer, Patti has worked on corridor and transportation projects in Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, and Florida. Patti’s approach to planning is to build a multi-disciplinary team to deliver projects that help communities grow and thrive in a multi-modal/mixed-use environment.
Prior to joining Neel-Schaffer, Patti worked for Louisville Metro Government and the Louisville Downtown Development Corporation, serving as the Project Manager for large planning and development projects such as Louisville Slugger Field, the Louisville Downtown Marriott, and Fourth Street Live. She stewarded downtown Louisville’s investment in sustainable infrastructure throughout the 1990s and 2000s. She co-authored the 1990 Louisville Downtown Development Plan, was a contributor to the 2002 Downtown Development Plan, and served as the project lead and co-author on the Move Louisville Plan.
Patti received the 2016 William Bowdy Award for Outstanding Lifetime Achievement as a Kentucky Planner and the 2012 Kentucky Society of Architects John Russel Groves Jr. Citizen Laureate Award. She has been part of the National Working Group for ULI’s Healthy Corridors Project since 2015. Patti is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the American Planning Association.
Patti lives in Louisville and serves as Co-Chair of the Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) for the Urban Land Institute’s Kentucky District Council. WLI is focused on increasing the role and visibility of women in the real estate and planning sectors. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Commonwealth Theatre Center, a Kentucky-based non-profit organization dedicated to excellence in comprehensive theatre education and performance.
