Ed Everitt, JD, PE, joined Neel-Schaffer in 2018 and serves as Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary for the firm.

As Neel-Schaffer’s General Counsel, Ed is responsible for all of Neel-Schaffer’s legal, risk management, and safety affairs. With over 18 years of experience in the construction and engineering industry, Ed primarily focuses on risk avoidance through consultation and evaluation of engineering and construction issues encountered during all aspects of a project’s life cycle.

Ed seeks to help resolve issues before they grow into a dispute through open collaboration and gaining an understanding of the root cause.

Ed has served as in-house counsel for construction and engineering firms since 2011. Before that, Ed practiced primarily in the area of construction law for a leading national law firm. Ed has extensive experience in construction law, professional liability insurance, corporate risk management, contract negotiation, quality control, and mergers and acquisitions.

Ed is a 2001 cum laude graduate of Mississippi State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a 2006 cum laude graduate of The University of Mississippi School of Law.

He is licensed to practice law in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Louisiana. His professional affiliations include the ACEC Business Insurance Trust, the ACEC Legal Counsel Forum, the American Bar Association’s Construction Law Forum, ACEC-Louisiana Risk Management Committee, and the Louisiana and Mississippi Bar Associations.
