Derek Cheatham, PE
North Texas Market Lead
Derek joined Neel-Schaffer in 2011 and in 2023 was promoted to fill a new leadership role as the firm’s North Texas Market Lead. In this position, Derek’s attention is primarily dedicated to growing Neel-Schaffer’s presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, taking advantage of his broad knowledge of and established relationships with the many municipalities and counties within the area.
Derek is a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas and has nearly 30 years of experience as a consulting engineer, with an emphasis on the design of water, sewer, streets, and drainage facilities for public works projects. He worked for Cheatham & Associates before that firm was acquired by Neel-Schaffer in 2011.
Derek’s experience includes many types of water improvement projects such as large transmission lines, distribution lines, elevated tanks, ground storage tanks, and tank refurbishing projects.
