SPRING HILL, TN
Neel-Schaffer was Lead Design firm for TDOT Design-Build project
Neel-Schaffer served as the Lead Design firm for an innovative Tennessee Department of Transportation Alternative Delivery project to build a new interchange on Interstate 65 in Spring Hill, TN.
Bell & Associates Construction was the contractor for the $56.8 million state-of-the-art diverging diamond interchange, which officially opened on May 31, 2024. The project included new roadway extensions, interstate resurfacing, drainage structures, bridges, new signals, permit preparation, erosion prevention, pavement markings, and signage.
The new interchange connects motorists to existing facilities at June Lake Boulevard and Lewisburg Pike and provides access to the new 775-acre June Lake mixed-use development that is under construction.
The project was considered high priority because it was funded with a BUILD grant through the Federal Highway Administration.
Neel-Schaffer was tasked with finalizing plans in conjunction with the Design-Build team, which included TDOT, the City of Spring Hill, and the owner’s representative.
Our firm’s responsibilities included bridge design, roadway design, permit assessments and applications, stream mitigation design, utility coordination, erosion control monitoring, right-of-way services, and design and inspection services during construction.
