Neel-Schaffer brings new life to barge facility at Port Bienville
Neel-Schaffer provided planning, design, bidding, and construction phase services for the rehabilitation of an existing bulkhead and barge loading/unloading facility located at Port Bienville in Hancock County, MS. Other services included grading, pavement design, detours, drainage, erosion control, landscaping, and signing.
The project was funded by the owner and operator of the multimodal industrial park facility, the Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission.
The project included complete renovation of the bulkhead and staging area/parking area. The existing bulkhead and staging area was inspected for worn and fatigued materials and such materials were replaced as necessary.
This project involved removal and replacement of tie-backs, the entire fendering system, the concrete cap, dolphin cluster and mooring bits. Also, a concrete retaining wall was constructed on one end of the bulkhead and the staging area was completely reconstructed as required by renovations to the tieback system.
