Memphis CMAQ Year 3 Signal System Design and CE&I
Neel-Schaffer was retained by the City of Memphis (TN) to provide engineering design and construction observation services for the City’s ongoing efforts to implement a citywide coordinated signal system. This was the third consecutive time the City selected Neel-Schaffer for this project.
Neel-Schaffer’s scope for the $3.3 million project included the upgrade and implementation of 43 signalized intersections into the coordinated signal system. The system utilized an Ethernet-based fiber optic communication backbone featuring video detection equipment for system detection. Project work tasks included traffic data collection, needs assessment planning, preparation of construction plans, and field design.
Project scope of services also included full-time construction administration and inspection. CE&I tasks followed TDOT Local Program technical and documentation requirements.
