Neel-Schaffer established a minority scholarship program for engineering students in 1990 and has since awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships to students across the South.
The first recipient of the Neel-Schaffer minority scholarship, Contena Carothers Alexander, graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and is now the Transportation Program Management Officer for the Department of Public Works in the City of Atlanta, Georgia.
One of the minority scholarship recipients who currently works for the firm is Theresa Carter, PE, a Transportation Project Manager in the Birmingham, Alabama office.
