Neel-Schaffer has an opening for a Project Engineer-Water Resources to join our growing engineering firm. This position can be based in Louisiana or Mississippi, in one of these offices: Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Mandeville, Lafayette, LA, or Bay St. Louis, MS.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated looking for career growth and possess solid communication and problem-solving skills in a collaborative team environment.
This position will be focused on project delivery for resilience, restoration, and drainage projects in coastal and inland communities. Coastal project types may include flood risk reduction, marsh creation, hydrologic restoration, shoreline protection, and living shorelines. Drainage/Hydrology and Hydraulics (H&H) projects may include drainage, flood control, open channel hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, bridge scour analyses, and storm water management.
The ideal candidate will have experience in all phases of project execution including project development, scoping, data collection oversight, analysis, design, preparation of construction documents, bidding support and construction oversight.

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in appropriate engineering disciplines such as Civil, Environmental, Coastal, etc.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Louisiana or Mississippi or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months, preferred.
- 3+ years of experience with technical work / project management Coastal and/or H&H.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to plan and conceptualize.
- The ability to produce technical reports and memorandums that are clear, concise, and accurate.
- The ability to communicate effectively during day-to-day interactions with colleagues and clients and in technical or public presentations.
- Proficiency with computer modeling programs such as GIS-based applications, 1D, 2D, and dynamic/unsteady-flow (e.g. HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, 1D/2D, PCSWMM, SMS, StormCAD, MIKE, Delft, ADCIRC, etc.).
- Experience with Microstation (and/or GEOPAK/OpenRoads), AutoCAD (and/or Civil 3D), and ArcGIS is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
