JACKSON, Miss. (April 3, 2025) – Neel-Schaffer is proud to announce that Senior Project Manager Jennifer Sloan Ziegler, Ph.D., PE, BC.WRE, ENV SP, CPEC, M.ASCE, has earned Board-Certified Water Resources Engineer certification through the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers.
This prestigious certification denotes experienced civil engineers who demonstrate specialty expertise beyond professional license and who broaden and deepen the body of knowledge for practicing professional engineers. The BC.WRE certification is the highest post-license certification that can be obtained in the water resources engineering profession, and it is an accredited program by the Council of Engineering & Scientific Specialty Boards.

Dr. Sloan Ziegler joined Neel-Schaffer in 2023 and is based in the firm’s Jackson Office. She provides environmental, water resources, and coastal engineering management and design services while also assisting in strategic business development pursuits. Her work has included engineering design, construction document preparation, and modeling, as well as policy development, grant writing, records research, stakeholder engagement, public hearings, and document preparation.
She is a licensed Professional Engineer in Mississippi and 10 other states and holds three degrees from Mississippi State University: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Engineering, with an emphasis on Water Resources Engineering.
